Roger E. Backhouse is Professor of the History and Philosophy of Economics at the University of Birmingham. He is author of ThernOrdinary Business of Life/The Penguin History of Economics (2002) and an editor (with Bradley W. Bateman) of The Cambridge Companion to Keynes (2006).Dan W. Brock is the Frances Glessner Lee Professor of Medical Ethics in the Harvard Medical School, where he directs the Division of Medical Ethics and the University Program in Ethics and Health. He is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine. His most recent book is From Chance to Choice: justice and Genetics (with Allen Buchanan, Norman Daniels and Daniel Wikler). His current research focuses on ethical issues in the use of cost-effectiveness analysis for health resource prioritization.
