Joel Anderson is a Research Lecturer in the philosophy department of Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He specializes in moral psychology and social theory, especially issues of autonomy, agency, mutual recognition and normativity. He co-edited (with John Christman) Autonomy and the Challenges to Liberalism (Cambridge University Press, 2005) and is currently writing a book entitled Scaffolded Autonomy: The Construction, Impairment, and Enhancement of Human Agency.
