Euclase from the Near-Polar Urals (Maldynyrd Range): New Data

Euclase is a beryllium hydrosilicate with the typical formula BeAl[SiO_4](OH). It is classed with the very rare minerals and is regarded as a gemstone. The mineral was first found in 1785 in Brazil in association with topaz and rock crystal in the talc and chlorite schists. In the Urals, euclase was found in 1858 among the kyanite crystals derived from gold placers at the Kamenka River. The first in situ finding of euclase was reported in 1982 as a leaching cavity filling in the beryl-plagioclase vein from the Malyshev emerald deposit in the central Urals.
