Structure and Zoning of the Geochemical Field of the Amur Au-Bearing Province

Criteria for recognition of the Amur gold-bearing province and elucidation of its geostructural position and metallogenic potential have been considered in [1]. According to Fersman, this province belongs to the Mongolian-Okhotsk metallic (metallogenic, in recent terminology) belt. The province is confined to the collision zone of the Stanovik fold-fault system with the Bureya median massif and the Mongolian-Okhotsk fold system between them (Fig. 1). The Cretaceous collision between the blocks led to the tectonomagmatic activation of the region, with plutonic magmatism in the central part of the collision zone and volcanic eruptions at its flanks. Gold mineralization, which served as a placer source, is genetically related to Cretaceous plutonic and volcanic rocks. Since the end of the 19th century, more than 8001 Au has been produced in the province, mainly from placers. Thus, the gold potential of the province has been poorly exploited. Planning of further prospecting and evaluation of gold resources in this area primarily depends on elucidation of the structure and zoning of the geochemical field of the province.
