Prospecting for low-Fe magnesite deposits, a strategic refractory raw material, is a crucial problem of modern electrometallurgy. At the same time, some genetic aspects of sparry magnesite deposits (SMD), such as sources of magnesium and metasomatic fluids, as well as the timing and mechanism of their penetration into sedimentary sequences, remain unclear so far. The SMD properties were studied in the South Urals magnesite province, which represents a reference object in Russia with SMD mines and several prospects in slightly metamorphosed carbonate sequences of the Lower (Burzyan) and Upper (Yurma-tin) Riphean stratotype sections in the Bashkir megan-ticlinorium.
