Specific Features of the Gas Field of Kimberlite Pipes

More than half an age has elapsed since the discovery of the first kimberlite pipe. The diamondiferous provinces in Yakutia, the Urals, and the Arkhangelsk region were found by geologists during this period. Methods of pipe prospecting have permanently been improved. A complex of forecasting and prospecting models of diamondiferous kimberlite pipes has been elaborated to date on the basis of generalization and interpretation of geological, geophysical, mineralogi-cal, and other data on numerous diamondiferous targets. The geophysical methods (largely, electrical and magnetic exploration) occupy an important place among the prospecting methods. By now, all the easily discovered pipes have been exhausted, and prospecting for new pipes has become a problem. In particular, a lack of investigated areas for prospecting is noted in the Arkhangelsk diamondiferous province.
