Hydrochemical Characteristics of the Surface Runoff in Lake Baikal (1997-2003)

The Angara River is the only channel of the surface runoff of Lake Baikal, in which the flows of more than 300 rivers and creeks of its drainage basin merge. This is one of the key points of the water balance of the Angara-Baikal water system, which characterizes the average composition of the Baikal Basin water that underwent mixing and transformation at the largest freshwater geochemical barrier in the world.
