Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the partial pressure of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased from 280 to 370 μatm and it continues to increase. The waters of the World Ocean are one of the most important natural regulators of the atmospheric CO_2 level. Unlike systematic investigation of the carbonate system of oceanic waters at low- and mid-latitudes, research in the Arctic Ocean (AO) has been sporadic in terms of study regions, the number of measurements, and the set of measured parameters. Previously, the role of the AO as a possible sink of anthropogenic CO_2 in the global carbon budget was not taken into account. Now, the Arctic region is attracting great interest owing to maximal manifestations of global changes.
