Temperature Anomalies in the Barents Sea during Summer Periods of 2001-2005

Recent global climate changes are characterized by substantial spatiotemporal heterogeneity. Particular Arctic regions demonstrate different dynamics of hydrometeorological-ecosystem processes and climatic trends. The European Arctic domain (Greenland, Barents, and White seas and, partly, the Kara Sea) is influenced by the Atlantic, Polar, and Arctic zones. This fact intensifies additionally present-day climatic uncertainty: the amplitude of interannual fluctuations in ecosystem characteristics increases, while predictability of typical ("warm," "cold") conditions decreases. This results in unbalanced marine ecosystems.
