摘要

Due to many facts inconsistent with the concept of the ice-rafted nature of oceanic bottom sediments in polar regions, the problem of their origin has recently attracted particular attention. Dredging in the Scotia Sea of the western Antarctic region combined with seismic sounding and complex study of rocks from morphological structures of the central Arctic Ocean revealed that sediments in these regions originated from abrasion of rocks exposed at the bottom.
