Application of Complex Acoustic Signals in Communication Systems and Navigation of Submersible Units

摘要

The development of advanced technologies for ocean study and exploration built around different types of submersible units is a priority area for science and engineering. This includes the assembly of unmanned submersible units and observatories for multidisciplinary; extensive studies of both offshore and oceanic floor zones; and obtaining fundamentally new information for oceanography, marine geology, biology, and energy resource distribution. To facilitate progress in this field, there is an urgent need for low-frequency communication systems with an operating range beyond a few hundred kilometers. This research is based on the results of the study of patterns in formation of low-frequency acoustic fields in shelf-continental slope-deep ocean waveguides [1-4]. The developed technique of ocean sounding using complex phase-manipulated signals allowed investigation of the spatio-temporal characteristics of the impulse response along the wave ducts at distances over 500 km.
