"Bioproductite" is the general term proposed by French geologists to distinguish sedimentary rocks consisting mainly of biogenic components (carbonate, organic carbon, phosphorus, silica).rnThe possible role of the volcanogenic factor in their formation is one of the highly debated issues in geology and geochemistry, being repeatedly discussed from different viewpoints.
