Biogeochemical Processes in the Water Column of the Caspian Sea in November 2008

摘要

A wide range research of oil and gas fields was developed in the last 25-30 years in the Caspian Sea Basin. It is considered that one of the methods of research is gas survey, which should be accompanied by the investigation of spreading and activity of microorganisms of the methane cycle in the water column and sediments. The objective of our work is determination of the methane concentration in the water column of the Northern and Middle Caspian Sea, investigation of hydrochemical (T°, O_2, Si, P) and microbiological characteristics, and determination of the rate of methane production and oxidization processes.
