Petrology of Mantle Xenoliths in Rocks of the Bezymyannyi Volcano (Kamchatka)

Most peridotite xenoliths in island-arc lavas are represented by their spinel varieties that reflect the composition of the island-arc lithospheric mantle [7]. In Kamchatka, mantle xenoliths are found in rocks from the Avachinskii, Klyuchevskoi, and Shiveluch volcanoes, as well as in baslalts of the Kharchino and Bakening areal zones. The field works in the Bezymyannyi Volcano area of 2009 yielded xenoliths of spinel harzburgites. This communication is dedicated to description of their petrographic and mineralogical properties, which were used for assessing parameters of the lithospheric mantle and revealing relations between andesites of this volcano and mantle source.
