Ore-Bearing Potential of the Southeastern Part of the East European Platform Exemplified by the Saratov Region

During the Mesozoic-Cenozoic, the southeastern part of the East European Platform was characterized by substantial tectonic activity [9]. It is traditionally considered unpromising with respect to endogenic (hydrothermal or telethermal) ore mineralization. This communication is dedicated to finds of cinnabar in pan samples taken from alluvium of present-day rivers in the Saratov region [7], which disprove, in our opinion, existing concepts.
