The Selenga Metamorphic Core Complex (Western Transbaikalian Region)

摘要

Within the Transbaikalian region, a specific type of tectonic structures formed under extension conditions was identified. According to the features of formation, these structures correspond to the metamorphic core complexes of the Cordilleran type [ 1 -4] and occur in the morphological structure of the region as linear uplifts of northeast strike (Fig. 1) and basins complementary to them filled with late volcanic-sedimentary strata. These structures were identified based on synthesis of data obtained as a result of comprehensive studies (petrological, isotope-geochemical, geochro-nological, structural-kinematic, and partially geophysical) of metamorphic and igneous complexes.
