Zirconology of Iron Quartzites of the Taratash Complex (Southern Urals)

The problems in study of iron quartztes (IQs) from the Taratash Complex (TC) of the Southern Urals including the nature of their substrate, age, and peculiarities of the evolution are well known. Information on IQs of the TC is discussed in detail in [1—3]. The metasomatic model is predominant among the hypotheses of their origin (metasomatic, sedimentary, and sedimentary—volcanogenic). According to the data of Yu.D. Pankov [1, 2], pre-Riphean crystalline schists, graphite quartzites, metagabbroids, and pyroxenites metamorphosed under the conditions of granulite facies were the substrate for TC formation. It was concluded that the whole rock association corresponded to metaophiolite, which underwent plagi-omigmatization and iron—silicon metasomatism that resulted in IQ formation, mainly, and the expense of pyroxenites.
