The nature of the Antarctic attracts particular attention from researchers, because this region is the least violated and its geochemical processes are poorly studied. At the same time, life in the coldest marine ecosystem of the Earth is rich, unique, and worthy of close attention. The study of coastal areas of East Antarctica (57th Russian Antarctic Expedition, R/V Academician Fedorov, March 2012) was performed in order to determine peculiarities in the distribution and composition of organic compounds (Ocs), such as chlorophyll a (chl a), pheophytin a (pheo a), lipids, and aliphatic hydrocarbons (HC), as well as in suspension in fast ice. Most studies of the snow-ice cover of the Antarctic concern the structure and physical state of ice, as well as their biological properties. Data on Ocs in ice are practically absent.
