Zuun-Hoeovoer, Oeverkhangai, Mongolia: A New Locality of Early Cretaceous Mammals

In August-September 2012, the South Gobi party of the Joint Russian-Mongolian paleontologica1 expedition (JRMPE) studied the Lower Cretaceous deposits of the Guchin Basin (OEvoerkhangai aimag, Guchin-Us sum) to search for fossils of mammals. As a result, a new locality of Early Cretaceous mammals, Zuun-Hoeovoer, was found on the northern side of the Hoeovoer valley, 45°21'71" N, 102°34'35" E (Figs, 1a, 1b). In 2012, 3.6 tonnes of sediments were washed and 0.5 tonnes were sifted; over 1500 remains of vertebrates were collected.
