The First Find of Visible Gold in Ferromanganese Crusts of the Pacific Ocean

Gold in marine ferromanganese crusts and concretions was registered using an electron microscope. Fe-Mn crusts of seamounts contain native gold as individual particles of elongated-oval shape with a length up to 0.8 μm, as well as on the surface of verna-dite globules and in goethite aggregates with a size of 0.008-0.01 μm [1]. Native gold in concretions of abyssal basins of the Pacific Ocean is represented [2] by round and elongated-oval particles with a size up to 0.5 μmand flakelike aggregates with a size up to 3 μm.
