摘要

The paper describes methods for classifying ground covers based on an analysis of textural characteristics, formed as a result of the processing of images acquired using a synthetic aperture radar (SAR). For the computation of the textural elements the paper considers the use of a set of statistical characteristics and also of matrices of transition probabilities for the amplitudes of SAR image readings. Results of the processing of SIR-C SAR images acquires from the Shuttle, using the given methods for the classification of forest types, are given.
