IDEA Members Awarded Federal Funding

A number of IDEA-member district energy systems have recently received federal funding through U.S. Department of Energy programs. DOE announced in early November that Seattle Steam Co. and Thermal Energy Corp., or TECO, were among 41 industrial energy efficiency projects across the country to be awarded more than $144 million in federal funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. (See sidebar.)rnDOE also awarded stimulus funding to District Energy Corporation of Nebraska and Ball State University as part of its Ground Source Heat Pump Demonstration Project, which in October granted $61.9 million to 37 projects.
