RED, National Gypsum Develop N.J. CHP Project

Recycled Energy Development (RED) and National Gypsum Company (NGC) announced the development of a combined heat and power project at NGC's Burlington, N.J., wallboard production facility. The project, which was supported by the state of New Jersey, will produce approximately 3.4 MW of electricity and deliver more than 210,000 MMBtu of thermal energy, resulting in an overall efficiency of greater than 90 percent. RED's ultra-efficient CHP system will reduce NGC's energy intensity and greenhouse gas emissions, and it will serve as a model for energy-intensive industrial facilities throughout the United States.
