You may find this hard to believe, but I think Avid has been out-hyped. Recently, many articles about a "hot, new, affordable" DV-based editing system have breathlessly explained how exciting this software is on a hot new laptop, how professional editors are creating motion pictures on it, how it enables low-cost HDTV and digital cinema, and how it will "kill the Avid."
