The title of a popular song informs us that only the strong survive. In today's challenging business world, that could not be any truer. But shrewd companies readily acknowledge this and recognize the fact that any organization is only as strong as its leadership. They realize that remaining competitive depends to a large extent on managerial competence, which in turn requires organizational commitment to training, development and education. Education equals investment, meaning that many companies now have to shell out big bucks on management training programs. Indeed, recent estimates claim that US organizations alone are spending between $16 billion and $55 billion on developing their employees' knowledge and skills. It is obviously not unreasonable to expect a decent return on such an investment.
