摘要

There was a time when universities were seen as the font of all knowledge and learning. Students would spend their time equipping themselves with the knowledge which they believed would help them be successful in their chosen career, and would set them apart from their peers who may have missed out on university learning in favour of going straight into a job. There is no doubt as to the continued importance of learning and knowledge. In today's competitive workplace, having an educated, knowledgeable and skilled workforce is a key goal for all managers as they fight against their competitors for increased production, efficiency and, ultimately profits. But the traditional methods of learning are changing. Gone are the days when people could spend time purely focused on learning, sitting for hours on end in classrooms, lecture theatres and libraries at universities. The pace of life has changed. People expect knowledge and learning on demand. They want it at a time and place to suit them, to fit in with their hectic lifestyles and the multiple priorities which are competing for a slice of their infinite time.
