Radioactivity to Rethink the Earth's Energy Balance

This contribution invites to re‐examine the whole matter of radioactivity, reconsidering it from the point of view of a realistic source of energy. State‐of‐the‐art and technical aspects are briefly illustrated in this note that aims to open a discussion on this challenging topic. This comment aims to re‐examine the whole matter of radioactivity, from the perspective of the current need to recycle for a sustainable development. In this frame, natural radioactive sites and storage areas of nuclear waste are sources of “endless” available energy to be safely re‐used. State‐of‐the‐art, technical aspects, and obstacles stemming from social perceptions are briefly illustrated.
