To write a portrait of Professor Boris Vukoni? is an honour and privilege for me, but at the same timeit is a task which I perceive as one of my most difcult to achieve. As his undergraduate, graduate, anddoctoral student I have always felt great respect and admiration for his academic achievements – somuch so that he inspired me to embark on an academic career. I was his assistant at the Faculty ofEconomics & Business, University of Zagreb from 1993 to 2001 and continued working with him untilhis retirement from the University of Zagreb in 2004 when he founded a private business school fortourism and hotel management – Utilus. Still, I have always called him “Professor Vukoni?” or “MyProfessor” and this is why I am loathe to refer to him in any other way. Tus, although this portraitof Vukoni? might be considered overly subjective, I know that whatever I write about him will be toomodest.
