TiO2powderhasbeensynthesizedthroughhydrolysis-condensationoftitanylsulfatesolutiontoastartingmaterialofTiO2nanorodsformation.ThisprocessingwasconductedbythesolidseparationofTiO2fromilmenitebyroastingilmenite,acidicleaching(hydrolysis),andco-precipitation(condensation).RoastingofilmenitewascarriedoutbytheadditionofNa2Satatemperatureof800°C.Whiletheacidicleachingprocesswasconductedbysulfuricacidatavariousconcentrationsof3,3.5,4.5,6,and9M.TheresultshownthatthesolubilityoptimumoccursinH2SO46Mcondition.SeparationofFeimpuritiesofTiO2gelfromtitanylsulfate(TiOSO4)solutionwasdonethroughcomplexationusingKCNSaddition.ThecharacteristicofTiO2obtainedusingX-RayFluorescence(XRF)andX-RayDiffraction(XRD)showedgoodcrystallinityandpurity.FurthertreatmentoftheTiO2istheformationofone-dimensionalnano-size(1-Dnanorods)throughahydrothermalmethodunderbasicconditionNaOH12Msolution.TiO2nanorodswereconfirmedbyTransmissionElectronMicroscope(TEM)whichindicatedthatthediameterofTiO2nanorodswasabout7.02nminsize...
