摘要

This is the 4th edition of the Journal of Mathematical Modelling and Application. It means that two years ago we took the decision of making available for the academic community a specialized journal of research in Mathematical Modelling for Education. The first proposal was to publish research results and relevant experiences for the area of Education. Nonetheless, considering that a great deal of empirical data for educational research arise from the use or reorientation of mathematical models of some knowledge area, we added the following goal: to publish and disseminate unpublished work in the area of mathematical modelling and application, resulting from research and relevant experiences in practices from the classroom or outside the classroom and in solution of some problem-situation of some knowledge area, but that can be of value as suggestion for the classroom. Therefore, in this 4th Journal we make available articles that contribute to Math Education in higher education. The first three articles present reflections upon math education in courses of the technology area and an analysis of experimental activities and the respective results. The last two articles introduce two approaches: one by using fractal geometry to analyze urban construction and the other, by using a computational support to analyze the differential equation in the dispersion of a disease. Undeniably, they are special contributions to higher education.
