摘要

Recent advances in this field clearly prove that it is possible to introduce foreign genes into plant cells and to achieve expression of these genes. Use of pBR322 as a helper plasmid has simplified the procedure for transformation of dicotyledonous plants. Direct gene transfer where foreign genes and expression signals are introduced into plant protoplasts as part of an E. coli plasmid is particularly interesting since it might open the way to the transformation of the cereals and other monocotyledonous plants.
