Effects of sweet potato meal on the growth rate of broilers

Thestudywasconductedtofindouttheperformanceofbroilerbirdsfeddifferentlevelsofsweetpotatomeal(SPM).Thelevelsofsweetpotatomealinthedifferenttreatmentrationswere0,10,20,30,40and50%,respectively.Therewasacurvilineardeclineingrowthrate(from27.9to23.3g/day)asthemaizewasreplacedbysweetpotatorootmealwithapronouncednbsp;reductioninperformanceoverallof17%whenallthemaizewasreplacedbysweetpotatomeal.Itisconcludedthatsweetpotatorootmealcanreplacemaizemealinthedietofbroilersovertheweightrange50to1400g,withonlyaslightreductioningrowthrate(17%withcompletesubstitutionofmaize),whichmaybecompensatedbythelowercostofthesweetpotatomeal.
