Locus of control and use of health services: Case of school attending adolescents in Nigeria

AbstractStudies have sought to establish a link between psychological factors and use of reproductive health services. Evidence is still needed on the association between locus of control and use of reproductive health services amongst adolescent populations in sub Saharan region. Our sample is made up of a representative sample of 3,065 secondary school female adolescents aged between 13 and 19?years in a cross-sectional survey. The correlation analysis showed that there was a relationship between adolescents’ locus of control and their use of Reproductive Health Services. Also, there was a slight difference between the mean of individuals who attribute outcome of life events to external factors and those who do not in their use of reproductive health services.
