Newton, MA—Leading OEM suppliers are stepping forward to show their support as the Design News Engineering Awards program begins its eleventh year. In its tenth year of support, the Torrington Co., Torring-ton, CT, is leading the way with a $25,000 award for the Engineer of the Year. The award honors a distinguished engineer chosen by Design News readers. The 1997 hon-oree was engineer Bernard Dagarin, who led the development team for the Galileo probe at the Hughes Space and Communication Co., El Segundo, CA.
