Electrostatic air purifiers can damage your health

Electrostatic air purifiers are normally used to catch harmful particles in production plants, hairdressers, aviaries, and offices. But as research by Dr.Ir. Jan Marijnissen at the Delft Aerosol Laboratory has shown, these filters can also produce particles, especially when they are used to remove minute droplets in the air (aerosols). These droplets, measuring less than one micrometre, can penetrate deep into the human pulmonary system. When air purifiers do the opposite of what they are supposed to do, public health could be at risk.
