US Army steps closer to next-generation scout

Following an Rfl published at the end of February, the US Army is moving forward with the fresh pursuit of a new scout rotorcraft. Under auspices of the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) programme, the Pentagon has set out the desired requirements and capabilities for its next scout/light attack fleet, now known as Capability Set 1 (CS1). The desired attributes for CS1 as laid out in the Rfl are reconnaissance/security/ attack with particular emphasis on the ability to detect, identify and affiliate friendly and enemy forces.
