Sea Venom starts to spit

European missile manufacturer MBDA is moving forward with trials of its Anglo-French Sea Venom anti-ship missile and used the recent IDEX exhibition to promote potential Middle East sales of the technology. Mark Sheehan, a military advisor for MBDA, told journalists in Abu Dhabi that the Sea Venom had achieved all its major milestones and objectives over the last 18 months, including air carriage and initial jettison trials from a French testbed helicopter at the end of last year. 'That's now setting us nicely in place to enable us to do release and guided firings from the platform,' said Sheehan. 'We hope that most of the qualification activities will be complete and then we will commence our integration programme onto Wildcat.'
