According to Gary Gunderson, owner of Recycle Technologies in Wood Dale, Ill., all "recycled" antifreeze is not the same. The quality of the finished product, he says, depends basically on how well the old coolant is "stripped" (cleaned), and on the formulation of the additive package blended into the cleaned fluid. Careful recycling, he says, creates a product that can meet new-antifreeze specifications.
