The Historical Construction Equipment Association (HCEA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the construction, dredging and surface-mining-equipment industries, announced its 2012 calendar. Calendar sales are a major fundraiser for the HCEA, and all proceeds go toward its operations. The calendarfeatures 12 8xlO-inch black and white photographs of vintage construction, dredging and surface mining equipment in action. Subjects range from a Marion 300 steam stripping shovel circa 1920, to the Peerless V-Con 3006 260-ton end dump of 1971. Also shown are photos of a Bucyrus-Erie 120B electric dragline, Mack Super Duty AP dump trucks, and the rare Schield Bantam ABM51 truck shovel, which was built for military airborne engineer service in the Korean War. Photo locations include California's San Gabriel Dam circa 1933, Kanopolis Dam in Kansas in 1941, and the Indiana Toll Road in 1955.
