Cat's D7E electric drive and differential steering system makes it the only dozer that can do locked-track pivot turns, providing maneuverability in tight spots. Cat says the D7E uses up to 30 percent less fuel, depending on the application, than its previous D7 dozers. The D7E's electrical design benefits the dozer's performance in several ways. Operator comfort is enhanced with a single-unit HVAC system that is self-contained and powered by electrical current, needing no belts or refrigerant lines, and it cools even when the machine is idling. With fewer mechanical parts, the electric drive reduces maintenance time and parts costs by eliminating belts, compressors, alternator, clutches and transmission control valves.
