HM400-3 articulated dump truck is powered by a 469-horse-power, Tier 4-lnterim Komatsu SAA6D140E-6 engine. Maximum GVW is 162,569 pounds, and the truck can haul up to 40 metric tons at its maximum ground speed of 34.7 mph. Compared to the HM400-2, body capacity and payload have been increased. The ADT has the Komatsu Traction Control System, which has speed sensors located on four wheels that detect tire slippage, after which automatic application of the inter-axle differential lock occurs.
