Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM), a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has purchased the remaining portion of Kawasaki Construction Machinery (KCM). KCM, parent to Kawasaki Construction Machinery America (KCMA), had been a JV partner with HCM. Construction Equipment editorial director Rod Sutton recently talked with Gary Bell, KCMA's VP/general manager, about how the move affects the Kawasaki-KCM brand. "KCMA is the North American marketing agent for the product, branded Kawasaki-KCM," Bell says. "We will market it in North America and Canada. Latin America will be handled out of Japan with a Tier 2, Tier 3 configuration, also Kawasaki-KCM branded. HCM will market Hitachi-branded wheel loaders in Europe and Russia through HCME, in Japan through HCMJ.
