Volvo Construction Equipment recently announced two new E Series hydraulic excavators, the EC140E and EC160E, both equipped with a Volvo D4J engine that meets Tier 4-Final emissions standards. According to Volvo, the 119-horsepower (net) EC140E features a 5-percent boost in engine power and delivers a 10-percent improvement in fuel efficiency, compared to the previous-generation model. Comparative figures for the 146-horsepower (net) EC160E include an 8-percent gain in fuel efficiency and 5-percent advantages in both engine power and tractive force.
