Coming Soon: New Formulations for Heavy-Duty-Diesel Engine Oil

Brian Humphrey, OEM technical liaison, Petro-Canada Lubricants, Suncor, aptly sums up the development of new heavy-duty-diesel engine oils for North America as "the largest overhaul ever in industry oil specifications." Two new categories of heavy-duty engine oil are currently under development, says Humphrey: PC-11A and PC-11B (PC for "proposed category"), which will be licensed (commercially available) December 2016 with API (American Petroleum Institute) designations of CK-4 and FA-4, respectively.
