A course in in-memory data management: the inner mechanics of in-memory databases

I was attracted to this book by the title, expecting to learn general principles for utilizing in-memory database systems. Although the text includes such information, I found the subtitle a better description of the contents. Hence, I would recommend it primarily to database practitioners and database implementers seeking to better understand the physical layer of in-memory database systems. The book is organized into five parts: "The Future of Enterprise Computing," "Foundations of Database Storage Techniques," "In-Memory Database Operators," "Advanced Database Storage Techniques," and "Foundations for a New Enterprise Application Development Era." The organization reflects the manner in which the material is provided to participants in an online open course started by the author in 2012. This online course was itself based on a master's-level course taught since 2009.
