The global dyestuffs industry has come a long way from the natural dyes of yore. Till the year 1856, when William Henry Perkin's discovery of "mauve" as the first synthetic dyestuff revolutionized the world of dyestuffs, dyestuffs were confined to those obtained from natural sources e.g. plants, fruit, animals etc.
