Digital printing - trends and techniques

There has been a continuous effort by technologists, in streamlining digital printing to make it a good option for short runs where time is a constraint. The higher cost is thus compensated with saving in time. Yang et al have even worked on possibilities of one step inkjet printing and durable press finishing. No doubt inkjet printing has demerits such as higher cost, lower production speed, limited colour space, requirement of higher skills etc and hence may not completely phase out analog printing. Still, digitalization of printing serves specific purposes wherever required and has a great scope, provided the present day bottlenecks in this technique are removed with more of research and development.
