The current public and political debate on the transition of the individual mobility from combustion engines towards electro-mobility may lead to the perception that the research into and development of biofuels is an obsolete direction and blind alley. To this end, the biofuel debate has recently been stirred up by critical questions regarding compatibility with current engine generations and regarding sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions.
