The Science and Politics of Global Warming

First the science, then the politics. The indisputable fact is that a rapid increase in global warming coincides with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution early in the nineteenth century. The burning of hydrocarbon fuels, mainly coal and oil, results in a release of carbon dioxide that enters the atmosphere and blocks the release of heat into outer space. Deforestation from excessive logging intensifies the effect: forests absorb heat.
