Kern der geplanten Europäischen Währungsunion wird die Einführung des EURO als gemeinsame Währung sein. Die Umstellung von DM auf den EURO, insbesondere die damit verbundene Doppelwährungsphase, bringt vor allem für das Rechnungswesen der Unternehmen Probleme mit sich. Dieser Beitrag beschreibt die Überlegungen der DATEV eG, die als Softwareanbieter und Dienstleistungsunternehmen die Finanzbuchhaltung von ca. 1,5 Millionen kleinen und mittelständischen Unternehmen abwickelt. Das Konzept der DATEV beinhaltet ein duales Rechnungswesensystem, welches eine flexible und stufenweise Währungsumstellung ermöglicht.%The planned European Monetary Union will be based on a common currency, the EURO. The introduction of the EURO, and here especially the transition phase with both currencies, the DM and the EURO, will confront many companies with problems. This article describes the approach of the DATEV eG which, as a significant software-and IT-service-company, processes the accounting of about 1,5 million small- and medium-size companies in Germany. The DATEV-concept provides a dual accounting system allowing a flexible stepwise transition.
